FAQ

What is your repurposing process of trees?

Bowyer + Toulson developed a small-scale, community-focused operation that includes the homeowner of the tree that needs to be removed, the arborist, the miller, and the woodworker. Each stage of operations creates an economically sustainable network. Once the tree has been milled and dried, BOWYER + TOULSON purchase the timber and make our heirloom products. We then provide the original homeowner of the tree with one of the boards so they have an heirloom piece from their tree

What is your Arborist program?

If you have a tree on your property you would like to repurpose, please contact us at info@bowyerandtoulson.com We will connect you with a local arborist in our network who can ensure as much of the tree's trunk is saved. You must obtain your own tree removal permit from your city and the arborist will work directly with you to book a time to remove your tree.

If you would like Bowyer + Toulson to collect this tree, we will make you your very own board with the fallen tree from your property as a thank you!

What if I’d like to keep my tree?

Your tree is yours to do what you would like with. Your arborist can often mill your tree right on your property so you can dry it yourself. They may also offer kiln drying services that speed up the drying process. Your arborist can discuss the options available when they meet with you.

What type of wood species do you work with?

At the moment we work with hardwoods like maple, ash, walnut, and oak. We hope to expand our operations to also include softwoods like fir, spruce, red cedar, etc.
